Our Challenge
The Hokitika Gorge Walkway is a popular trail, attracting thousands of tourists per year, Edifice were contracted to construct the 90m suspension bridge across the gorge as part of the new walkway, making the trail 2km instead of only 600m. The bridge was in a challenging location, with all gear needing to be helicoptered in to site. This location has the highest rainfall in the country, making the time frames a challenge, just as well our team is always prepared.

Our Solution
The Edifice team well and truly delivered on this project, despite the COVID19 lock down occurring in the middle of the project and many other challenges throughout. There was extensive work needed for the foundations and extra rock anchors were needed. Diverse weather patterns and high visitor numbers also meant great planning was needed. Overall, the bridge came together well. it was delivered within expected time frames and the result is stunning.
